Road Trip {Hiawassee, GA}

Road Trip {Hiawassee, GA}

So, this is mostly a DIY blog.  But I also share the trips we take, big and small.  Growing up, I was so fortunate that my parents took my sister and I on most of the trips they went on.  The world is so big and there is so much to see!  I try to take every opportunity to do the same with my girls. So…when Mom asked me if I wanted to accompany her on a little recognizance mission…

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

Confession Time:  If going to Disney World by your self is wrong, I don’t want to be right! A couple of years ago I went to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party by myself when I found myself in Orlando without my family in tow.  And it was awesome! The same set of circumstances presented themselves last month and I couldn’t resist going for a little visit! I arrived at the park around 4pm and had no problems entering even…

Elkmont {Great Smokey Mountains National Park}

Elkmont {Great Smokey Mountains National Park}

Today I’m sharing one day from our trip to Pigeon Forge, TN.  We started off our day with breakfast at the Old Mill Restaurant.  We ate here twice during our trip and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Pigeon Forge. The portions are large so you may want to share.  The only thing I didn’t like were the grits.  They needed a lot of salt and butter to be edible.  But everything else was delicious. Our next stop…

Breakfast at Be Our Guest Restaurant

Breakfast at Be Our Guest Restaurant

On our last trip to Disney I managed to snag a last minute breakfast reservation at Be Our Guest. You can check out our visit at lunch here. The reservation was before the park even opened!  If you’ve never done this before (like me) there is a roped off area at the side of the main entrance where they check your reservation and let you into the park using your arm band or ticket.  It was so fun to walk down Main Street with…

Chef Mickey’s

Chef Mickey’s

Thank you so much for being patient with me as slowly update the blog from posts from our trip to Walt Disney World in January.  Today I want to share our visit to Chef Mickey’s during our last trip. Since we booked our trip at the last minute (about a month before we were traveling) the only reservation I could get was at 8:00pm.  That makes for a long day in the parks followed by a long meal.  Our kids…

Outer Banks Trip

Outer Banks Trip

I’m still back tracking to get you guys caught up on everything that happened during my ‘blog break.’  Today I wanted to share a special day that I got to spend with my oldest (and 120 of her closest third grade friends). It’s a tradition at my daughters’ school for the third graders to take a trip to the NC Outer Banks and visit the Wright Brothers Memorial, Jockey’s Ridge and Bodie Island Lighthouse.  (Normally they visit the aquarium but…

Brookgreen Gardens {Myrtle Beach, SC}

Brookgreen Gardens {Myrtle Beach, SC}

We spent a little time in Myrtle Beach with my family over the July 4th weekend.  While we were there, we drove down to Brookgreen Gardens to see the gardens and Lego exhibit. We only saw a small portion of the gardens on our way to the zoo (where most of the Lego sculptures were located).  The portion of the gardens that we did see was absolutely gorgeous! In addition to the gardens, there is a small zoo, a restaurant,…

Universal Orlando {Vacay Day 6}

Universal Orlando {Vacay Day 6}

We finished up our trip at Universal Orlando.  Avery got to meet Diego right as we walked in the park and was giddy with excitement.  McKenna wouldn’t deign to have her picture made with him.    While Avery was meeting Diego, Chad set off to buy gloves for all of us.  It was so cold and the wind was blowing.   If Avery wasn’t already on cloud 9 after meeting Diego, her life was about to be made when we…

SeaWorld Orlando {Vacay Day 5}

SeaWorld Orlando {Vacay Day 5}

We spent a positively fun, but frigid day at SeaWorld Orlando.  It was 40 degrees and blowing 40mph. Not exactly an ideal day to visit but we decided to make the most of our time.  That’s one of the dangers of going to Orlando in January…it could be 85 degrees when you get there and 40 degrees by the time you leave.  You just never know.  That’s how the weather has been the last two times we have gone in January. But…

Magic Kingdom {Vacay Day 4}

Magic Kingdom {Vacay Day 4}

Greetings from the frozen tundra that my little corner of the world has turned into!  I’m ready for those first warm days of spring before the bugs and pollen take over. Anyway,  I thought I’d try to continue on with our Vacation recap.  As I mentioned at the end of the last post, I spent the better part of the third day at Urgent Care watching HGTV and begging for an antibiotic.   We spent the rest of the day resting…
