Where the Wild Things Are

Where the Wild Things Are

I haven’t shared much about my girls on the blog lately.  After I went Haven Conference last summer I really tried to focus the blog down on to one main topic or niche.  I chose Home/DIY since that’s what I enjoy the most.  However, I feel like my girls are such an important part of my life (I mean…they’re the reason I’m here) that I’m not being authentic or fair by leaving them out.  So you’ll probably see more of…

How to Make a Model Guinea Pig

How to Make a Model Guinea Pig

Okay.  On the random scale, I am off the charts today with this post.  But maybe it will help some poor parent doing a project with their child the night before its due like I was.  I’m going to share a little tutorial on how to make a model guinea pig with you. When Avery’s kindergarten class did their unit on “farms” they each got to pick a farm animal to do a project on.  Avery picked a guinea pig.  Now…

Quick & Easy Lunchbox Drawer

Quick & Easy Lunchbox Drawer

We’re just getting settled into summer but I know it will be time to go back to school in no time!  Packing lunch boxes every morning is my least favorite part of the day.  I think it’s because I don’t have a good system in place. I constantly walk back and forth between the refrigerator, pantry and cabinets.  It’s a huge time waster! I took about an hour last weekend to clean out a drawer in my kitchen and organize it specifically…

The Last Day of School

The Last Day of School

I’m a little behind schedule here but I have to share our last day of school.  The first day of school will be rolling around again before we know it. I do not know where this year went. My little Avery finished Kindergarten and our oldest finished the third grade.  I am so glad to be free from lunch box packing duty and trying to beat the school’s tardy bell every morning! (We did the tardy bell walk of shame…

Boo from the Bay Bush {2014}

Boo from the Bay Bush {2014}

We’ve had all kinds of fun going on over the last week! Miss A kicked off the week with a fun and adorable costume parade at preschool. Her little class walked from their school to our local grocery store. They paraded through the store and sang two songs for the customers and parents. After their parade they had a picnic on the playground.   This was along the same time that Avery pushed down Spiderman for “trying to kiss her.”…

First Day of Pre-K

First Day of Pre-K

My little Averycakes started her last year of preschool this past week.  Where does the time go?!? We celebrated with our back-to-school breakfast.  (It looks eerily similar to the one we had for McKenna the week before.  Almost as if I just left everything sitting out on the kitchen table for over a week…)  I did switch out the books and change the chalkboard but everything else is the same.       This girl was so excited to go back…

First Day of School {2nd Grade}

First Day of School {2nd Grade}

We have survived a full week of school.  It hasn’t been pretty and there was one day we flirted with getting a tardy but managed to get to school on time. We kicked the first day off with our annual Back to School Breakfast.   The “runner” is wrapping paper from the OneSpot at Target along with the marker board that looks like a sheet of paper.  I had everything else around the house already.   We dined on McKenna’s favorite…

Last Day of First Grade

Last Day of First Grade

 We celebrated the LAST DAY of FIRST GRADE for Miss McKenna on Friday.   I threw this one together in about six minutes, decorating the table with some of McKenna’s favorite things.   She loves the Berenstein Bears books and Dr. Suess.  She still says she wants to be an Artist when she grows up so I included one of her most recent pieces.  The ball is for her new found love of Four Square that we play in front…

Preschool Graduation

Preschool Graduation

It is so hard to believe that my baby has finished her first year of preschool.  We celebrated her last day of preschool with a festive little breakfast that I threw together in about 5 minutes.  I slung a little wrapping paper on the table with a few of her favorite books and added a few sprinkles to the Toaster Strudels.  I mean, we go all out for Graduations around here!   I’m so thankful that her birthday is just past the…

A Little Lemonade Stand

A Little Lemonade Stand

McKenna woke up Friday morning (a couple of weeks ago by the time I’m getting around to posting this) with a hankering to have a Lemonade Stand on Saturday at our little town’s Strawberry Festival. It was kind of short notice, though.  Less than 24 hours away.  I tried to think of a good reason why we couldn’t do it…because I knew who would end up doing most of the work.  I asked what she wanted to do with the money…
