Homecoming and Cake

We had homecoming at church yesterday. The food was delicious. Since Mama and Dad had taken off on a mini vacay that left me and Ang to cook for something to take on our own. McKenna and I made a cake to take. I got the idea from a cake that a girl from work was telling me about so I can’t take all the credit. Not sure if our cake was like hers though as I couldn’t remember all the ingredients she told me.

Here’s what we did.

1 box Betty Crocker Butter Pecan cake mix
1 can Butter Cream icing

*mixed both together and cooked according to instructions on the box.

Then we added a can of Cream Cheese Icing and chopped up pecans. I think next time I might skip the icing. It was a little rich. Then I drizzled with caramel syrup that Mama happened to have in her fridge. (I was cooking at her house as my oven no longer works at the old house.)

For someone who doesn’t cook it turned out pretty good I think. McKenna had fun helping too.

On the house front, I did manage to get 2 more doors painted so that was good. The stairs have 2 coats of polyurethane on them. But I think they need one more. They have a lot of abuse in their future with my rowdy bunch.

Wish I had some pictures of the cake to share. It was really moist.
