I whipped up the cutest little July 4th wreath using door hanger from the Dollar Tree! I picked it up last year and never got around to making anything with it. So when I put out my bunting this past weekend I realized that I needed something patriotic for the door and whipped this little jewel up using the Dollar Tree door hanger and leftover ribbon from Christmas.
To get started I cut 4 pieces of the polka dot ribbon (each was around 20 inches long). Then I cut two pieces of the hard red trim (each about 40 inches). I just used what I had left on the roll and cut it in half.
The ribbon is from Sam’s Club. I’ve said it before but it’s the best place to buy ribbon for the money. Their rolls of ribbon usually come with more ribbon than you will ever use for around $8. I keep a stash from each season in my craft closet. You can always use more ribbon!
Then I tied the end of each ribbon to the back of the hanger (make sure the right side of the ribbon is facing forward).
I secured the red glitter trim with two blue binder clips (not pictured) where it folded over the bottom edge of the hanger.
Finally, I cut an inverted “v” into the bottom end of the ribbon to make it pretty.
The entire project took less than 20 minutes to make and I love the finished result!
It added just the right pop of color to the door to go along with the bunting on the porch railing.
What do you think? Have a dollar, extra ribbon and 20 minutes? How do you like the wreath with the bunting? I’m sad to say the bunting is on its last leg and I’ll be looking for replacements on clearance after the 4th.
You can check out a similar wreath I made from the Dollar Store for St. Patrick’s Day here.
