Can you believe its time for another season of the One Room Challenge? I’m still recovering from the last one when I made over my husband’s room. Good times.
My oldest daughter has been begging to makeover her room since the last One Room Challenge. I told her we would on one condition…
She had to clean it first! I thought that would get me out of it. But we spent the better part of an afternoon cleaning it up. Sister has a lot of clothes and 97% of them were on the floor.
I really should have taken a before before picture of her room. It. was. bad. For real.
She has a great room! It has two windows with lots of natural light. I’m hoping that once we make it over and she loves it, she will be more enticed to keep it clean.
Her furniture is leftover from my college apartment. She really wants a smaller bed. Who wants a smaller bed? She wants the extra room so I’m scouring Craigslist for options. I’m afraid she may miss all the extra room at night.
As you can see by the Star Wars poster, she’s done some decorating on her own up there. She also hung some of the pictures. We’re going to re-home Star Wars to the playroom or her closet.
The comforter has got to go! It is literally shredding to pieces. I’ve already thrown the shams away. It was super cheap when I bought it and I got what I paid for.
I’m sure little sis will have a significant impact on the design! We always love her input.
So here are the goals…
- Twin bed
- New bedding
- Accent wall
- DIY some sort of desk
- Curtains
- Storage
- Clutter reduction – looking at you Barbie Dream House
- Gallery Wall/Bulletin Board
That’s all I’ve got so far. No fancy mood board or inspiration pieces. I do have a Pinterest Board where McKenna and I have saved some stuff we like. You can see it here.
What would you do? I would love to hear your ideas! I’ll present them to my, ahem, client.
Check out the feature designer links in the One Room Challenge this season here and the guest participants here.
How fun! Can’t wait to see how it all comes together.
So fun! I’m interested to see what you end up doing for the accent wall. Looking forward to following your progress over the next few weeks. Good luck!
Kids rooms are so fun to decorate but they have so much stuff. I too was cleaning our kids room and wondered how they have so much stuff!!! That doll house – we have a large one too. Your daughter will be happy to have a makeover.
How fun. My daughter and i redid her room last year and we had a ball. I know you’ll enjoy every minute and I’m looking forward to seeing the final product and the steps along the way.
Hugs, Lynn
When my daughter was little, I loved decorating her room. What fun! Can’t wait to see the final project!
